Although, the Eagles are having a dismal season and were sporting a 4-9 record prior to the game, there was some hope for Steeler fans as the Bungles have struggled to win in primetime. And for nearly 3 quarters of play, hope was still alive. Philadelphia led 13-10 and after Bungles' QB Andy Dalton threw an interception near mid-field, the Eagles took possession with about 5 minutes remaining in the quarter. Here we go Steelers, here we go!
But, no. Philly's QB gave the ball right back to Cincy when he passed the ball about 8 yards short of a wide open receiver, which was picked off. And then Philly essentially turned the ball over on every other possession for the remainder of the game, and the Bengals capitalized on each en route to a 34-13 blowout.
The win is huge for Cincinnati (8-6) who now moves ahead of Pittsburgh (7-6) for the remaining AFC Wild Card spot. Moreover, the Bengals will have an extra 4 days rest before they face the Steelers at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh on December 23rd for a show down with ultimate postseason consequences for both teams.
In the meantime, the Steelers will travel to Dallas (7-6) this Sunday, in what should be considered a "must win" game for Pittsburgh, as a loss there would put Cincinnati in the drivers seat for the 6th and final seed in the AFC field.
Okay Steelers, "nothing is riding on this except the First Amendment to the Constitution, freedom of the press, and maybe the future of the country. Not that any of that matters, but if you guys fuck up again, I'm going to get mad. Goodnight." -- All the President's Men.
