No Big Ben, no Antonio Brown, no Troy Polamalu and no excuses . . . Steelers lose big opportunity and game to Baltimore 13-10.
Yes, Big Ben is out with a life-threatening injury (again) and Troy Polamalu is frustrated by another nagging injury (again), but the Steelers had every opportunity to win this game and move into first place in the AFC North.
Instead, the loss drops the Steelers to 6-4 and will have them scrapping it out for a possible Wild Card berth while playing without Big Ben for the foreseeable future.
After a spectacular 31-yard broken-play touchdown run by Byron Leftwhich to put Pittsburgh up 7-0 in the first quarter, the Steelers' back-up looked plain awful (probably due a freak injury incurred when he tripped over his own feet after scoring the touchdown). Again, no excuses. Charlie Batch SHOULD have been called on at halftime, or in the fourth quarter, and certainly by the final drive.
Other gripes:
Rashard Mendenhall -- get the heck out of bounds.
Mike Wallace -- if you want to be paid like a big-time receiver you have to play like it. Drag your left foot . . . come back for the ball to help your back-up QB who is playing like his arm is falling off . . . and stop fumbling.
Jonathan Dwyer -- you should be the feature back in this offense.
Steeler D -- Nice effort overall. Please consider forcing a turnover.
