Breaking news: Illegal hits only apply to Steelers, especially James Harrison

The NFL announced today that the helmet-to-helmet hit delivered by San Francisco 49ers defensive back Donte Whitner on New Orleans Saints running back Pierre Thomas, knocking him out of the game was legal.  The NFL further clarified that helmet-to-helmet hits are only illegal when delivered by a Pittsburgh Steelers player, especially James Harrison, even if the player has the ball and is advancing in yardage between the whistles.  Commissioner Roger Goodell said, "again, this infraction only applies when using the 'NFL rule book for Steeler games'."  Goodell then winked and added, "in fact if its Harrison, it doesn't even have to be a helmet-to-helmet hit.  It could just be a tackle."
