Steelers have little to play for against Rams
Big Ben will mercifully sit out for the 10-4 Steelers' Christmas Eve match-up against the St. Louis Rams (2-12) to help recover from a litany of injuries. Pittsburgh has little to play for anyway, with a Wild Card spot already secured, and a chance for a North Division title and top seed in the AFC playoffs squandered in San Francisco last Monday night.
Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin would do well to remember the last time Pittsburgh played the Rams in 2007. Although, the Steelers won handily in St. Louis, 41-24, their star running-back Willie Parker, who was working toward an NFL rushing title was lost for the upcoming playoffs after suffering a broken leg during the game.
And, a few weeks later, Pittsburgh lost a home playoff game to Jacksonville. Here's to hoping the Steelers rest more players than Roethlisberger who are suffering from physical ailments -- namely Troy Polamalu.
The last time the Rams played in Pittsburgh was 2003, when Marc Bulger and the Rams whipped Tommy Maddox and the Steelers 33-21 in what turned out to be a lost season for the black-and-gold.
Although, Big Ben (and hopefully other ailing starters) will sit, Charlie Batch should get the job done for the Steelers as the Steeler Face predicts a 19-12 win for Pittsburgh. The Steeler Face is 8-5 (with one perfect pick) forecasting Steeler games on the year.
